Recognized internationally for his innovative cooking style, which combines subtle Indian flavors with classic French cuisine, Mr. John has been recognized by Food and Wine as one of “America’s Best New Chefs.” His recipes have been featured in Food Arts, and the Boston Globe rated his cuisine “delectable, different and delicious.” Since joining Au Bon Pain as Executive Chef in 2004, Mr. John has influenced the company’s menu offering with new, distinctive and exotic flavors.
Prior to joining Au Bon Pain, Mr. John was the Executive Chef at Mantra, which was named a best restaurant by Esquire magazine in 2001 and one of the “Top 75 Restaurants in the World” by Condé Nast Traveler. The Boston Globe awarded Mantra the coveted three and a half stars.
Mr. John began his career at The Oberoi Resorts in India where he was trained at the Oberoi Culinary School, which is considered one of the best in Asia. Mr. John serves as an instructor at Boston University’s Culinary Institute, the French Culinary Institute and on the Advisory Council for Harvard University’s culinary services.
