This commitment extends to starting our day before the sun come up; baking our products fresh daily so that we can provide the best tasting food to our customers. We take our time, not yours. With good bread, it’s just that simple.
In the spring of 1978, businessman Louis Kane was strolling through Boston's historic Faneuil Hall Marketplace when he noticed a display showcasing a new line of French bakery ovens. The aromas of the fresh breads were so enchanting he had to buy one to put in his first store. Placing the oven in full view of the customers so they could see and smell the baking process was revolutionary at this time. Not only did customers flock for the fresh croissants, baguettes, and pastries, but they also brought something with them. Customers began asking Louis to slice breads in half, so they could make sandwiches with deli meats they brought from home. This sparked a new idea that brought about the Au Bon Pain you know and love. Today, there are over 250 Au Bon Pain café bakeries throughout the world, including 80 cafes in Thailand, growing to become a gourmet convenience where you live and work.
